Dubai announced plans to host a tourism summit at the Skift Global Forum East in the Middle East and North Africa region.
The Dubai Tourism Summit will be a platform for industry stakeholders to discuss ways to create a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient future for global tourism through the sharing of ideas, strategies, and best practices.
The Dubai Department of Tourism (DET) also released a report on the city’s tourism industry for the first 10 months of 2022, showing that Dubai welcomed 11.4 million international overnight visitors, a 134% increase from the previous year.
This is close to the pre-pandemic record of 13.5 million international visitors in the first 10 months of 2019. The DET’s International Visitor Survey also found that Dubai was a popular destination for families and couples (79%), and that international visitors stayed longer in Dubai during the first half of 2022 compared to the same period in 2019.
The survey also revealed that young travellers under the age of 35 made up a significant proportion (40%) of visitors to Dubai in H1 2022. Dubai aims to become a city of the future through its 2040 Urban Master Plan, which focuses on sustainability and enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors.
To promote growth in the tourism sector, Dubai has introduced several regulatory initiatives, including a 60-day tourist visa and a five-year multi-entry visa for employees of multinational companies.
